This is a conversation with so much nuance involved that simple numbers don't tell the story. Using black-&-white numbers here leaves out the fact that: -2 races in '24 were bumped last-minute to CNBC (including 1 NBC race) -2 more races were streaming-only in '24 -Including

In some ways, yes. The simple math of adding up the eyeballs — between an all-network schedule, the major 500 win, practice & qualifying on cable & cable replays galore — is not for nothing. But what it doesn’t add up to is overall momentum in the sport at-large (i.e. outside

Without question. Injecting jet fuel into the 500 is a massive part of all this & obviously where the biggest win comes from. At the same time, the sport can't continue to survive solely off the hype & viewership around the 500. Those couple weeks of the sport's ecosystem

Big lead-in win for the event that preceded Sunday's IndyCar Laguna Seca race & likely a not insignificant piece of the puzzle regarding largely holding serve on ratings compared to the rest of this month while running up against the Brickyard 400.

The 1.4 million folks (average audience size for the race) who made the cable broadcast of Sunday’s F1 race at Spa without an American driver on the grid would disagree with you.

Brickyard 400 averaged 2.5 million viewers this year on TNT and TruTV (combined). Most for any NASCAR race since the Coke 600 in May, but way down from 3.6 million last year on NBC. Overall, TNT's five races averaged 2.1 million viewers.

Hopes of extending the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship — as slim of hopes as they’ve been for months — are no longer in Pato O’Ward’s hands. Pato could have a max points weekend at Portland & still see Alex Palou Montalbo clinch. On the title-clinching scenarios: indystar.com/story/sports/m…

Even if Pato puts together a max points weekend at Portland -- a track where he's never logged a podium -- Alex Palou Montalbo need just finish 4th & start the final 2 races to wrap up the title. And if Palou takes 2nd & leads a lap, he can celebrate in Oregon. indystar.com/story/sports/m…

The weekend after NASCAR’s sold-out race at Iowa Speedway, the finale night at Knoxville Nationals less than an hour down the road will host a sold-out crowd of more than 20,000 race fans.
