“Mama… I can’t breathe,” were the dying words of George Floyd. This Saturday marks four years since his murder sparked the largest global protest. This Saturday at 7pm a candle light vigil will be held at the intersection where he took his last breath.

Police killings have increased each year since 2020 according to data by Mapping Police Violence. While we may have made progress in other areas since George Floyd’s murder the data shows Black people are still 2.9x more likely to be killed by police than white people in the U.S

Minnesota state senator John Hoffman in Champlin and Minnesota state representative Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park were shot in their homes overnight by a gunman impersonating an officer. A manhunt is currently underway in Brooklyn Park and police issued a shelter in place.
