Keep an eye out for Bird's-foot Trefoil this #ForageFriday 🔍 It's visited by lots of our bumblebee species, including the #ShrillCarderBee. It can flower from June through to September and is a stunning little plant of our meadows and verges 🐝 #BumblebeeFood #RareBumblebees

Thistle do nicely! This #ForageFriday we're focussing on all the thistles, like this Creeping Thistle, that are adding a splash of purple to grasslands and verges. They're often busy with #bumblebees in July and Shrills have previously been recorded on thistles 🐝#ShrillCarderBee

Just a reminder of the Shrill carder bee day we are hosting with the RSPB at RSPB Newport Wetlands this Saturday (22nd). A day full of fun bumblebee activities for adults and kids - see you there from 10.30am!

First day of August and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation Castlemartin Range is open for the month! We found plenty of Shrill carders out and about enjoying the sunshine! Populations are in a little trouble in Pembrokeshire now, so it was reassuring to see so many today. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

We had a lovely day exploring Thamesmead for rare bumblebees yesterday as part of the Thamesmead Pollinator Corridor project. Bumblebee Conservation Trust staff and local volunteers spread out and recorded shrill carder workers & a male and brown banded workers & males.

Thank you to all our volunteers who helped us move and replant Comfrey at National Trust Lytes Cary Manor on Saturday! Once established, the comfrey will provide important forage for #ShrillCarderBees 🐝
