What a match. Electric to watch. Bought some plants at the garden centre this lunchtime, planning to part them after the match. But just couldn’t get up from the settee. Joined the action towards the end of the second set and stayed utterly glued to it. Superb. Best ever?

Quite aside from all the design horrors unleashed by Apple yesterday (many of which have already been rightly criticised on here), what happened to the company’s once brilliant copywriters? ‘Work. Flows.’ is alright. But what does ‘Gets you. So you can get after it.’ mean?!

After yesterday’s deadly India plane crash, “a respectful moment of silence” at Lord’s. But an incredibly crass segue into today’s action, from Test Match Special commentator jim maxwell: “That awful accident yesterday… what accidents are we going to see along the way here?”.

There hasn’t been a G8 meeting for more than a decade, but that – according to Naga Munchetty’s BBC Radio 5 Live show introduction – is where Sir Keir Starmer is today, his reason for missing PMQs. #G7Summit2025

I may not be as emotional as this festival-goer, but there is something quite moving about Lewis Capaldi’s Glastonbury return. “The last two years haven’t been the best for me”, he says: “It’s been difficult at times… This has been my fucking goal to get back here doing this.”

V sorry to hear that Sandy Gall has died. Worked with him ITN including together in Saudi when he was first international journalist to get into liberated Kuwait. Amazing scoop, amazing day. A dedicated, kind and supportive colleague to younger journos like me.

Can’t stop sobbing every time I see this devastatingly touching TinyChef video: “a perfect bite-sized look at how grief sets in when you have to close a door you didn’t want to shut”, as lex briscuso (▰˘◡˘▰) writes. ign.com/articles/nicke…
