State of Chicago Sports

Chicago Cubs: Some Hope
Chicago Blackhawks: Will Recover
Chicago Bears: Some Hope
Chicago Bulls: No Hope
Chicago Whitesox: No Hope

Reality is these other franchises may win a championship in the years to come. With Reinsdorf, it will never happen again.

What do I expect the Chicago Bulls to do this offseason?

1. They'll trade Zach Lavine
2. They'll possibly use stretch provision on Lonzo Ball
3. They'll re-sign DeMar DeRozan
4. They'll re-sign Patrick Williams

Keep your expectations low. AKME have totally failed at their jobs.

Karnisovas today:

1. This group hasn't worked

2. Vowed to make changes & set a clear goal of winning a title.

===========

Problem #1 - We will never win a title ever again with cheap Reindorf.

Problem #2 - Fanbase has lost trust in you. You're one of the worst FO in the NBA.

$172 million projected luxury tax limit.

Lavine $43m
DeMar $36-40m (est)
Lonzo $21.4m
Vucevic $20m
Coby $12m
Caruso $9.8m
Ayo $7m
Carter $6.5m
Craig $2.8m
Terry $3.5m
Phillips $1.9m
Williams ?

Bulls will be way over tax limit if they bring back Pat/DeMar.

A move is coming.

Chicago Bulls will most likely re-sign DeMar DeRozan this offseason.

1. They can offer him the most money

2. AKME traded our 2025 1st Rd Pick for him which is Top 10 protected next draft.

Too much has been invested into him. Like Vucevic, fully expect AKME retain DeMar.

Should the Chicago Bulls re-sign a soon to be 35 year old DeMar DeRozan to a 2 to 3 year deal this offseason?

He'll still get paid a significant amount somewhere between $20m-$28m per season. No discounts signing him are going to happen.

Chicago Bulls have a 9.4% chance at winning a Top 4 Pick & a 2.0% chance at winning the #1 pick overall.

NBA continues to reward teams that tank & punishes teams that just miss the playoffs which is why we've been stuck in basketball purgatory for a decade as we refuse to tank.

2022-23 Season
Chicago Bulls = 40 Wins
Final Playin Tournament vs Miami = Lost
Eliminated from Playoffs

2023-24 Season
Chicago Bulls = 39 Wins
Final Playin Tournament vs Miami = Lost
Eliminated from Playoffs

No progress, no change stuck in purgatory dead in the middle NBA team.

Chicago Bulls once again lead the NBA this season in individual team average attendance.

Fans buying tickets must like .500 teams that will never contend for a title.

Until ticket sales vastly drop, nothing will change. Bulls locked in to have another .500 season next season.

Chicago Bulls Records Since 2015

15-16: 42-20
16-17: 41-41
17-18: 27-55
18-19: 22-60
19-20: 22-43
20-21: 31-41
21-22: 46-36
22-23: 40-42
23-24: 39-43

We don't tank, we don't compete. 9 yrs, no change as tickets sell regardless.

See you next season for another 39-42 win season.

Chicago Bulls definition of competitiveness =
Win 38-44 games
Make playin
No luxury tax

Actual definition of competitiveness =
Win 50+ games
Pay huge tax to win now

Nothing wrong with competing every season but Bulls aren't serious about competing either. Don't believe their BS

Chicago Bulls currently lead the league in total attendance / total sold tickets in 2024.

- Reinsdorf won't tank because ticket sales might drop

- Reinsdorf won't pay luxury tax because what's the point? They'll still be #1 in the NBA in ticket sales with or without paying tax.

AKME/Reinsdorf believe making the playoffs/playin is keeping this team competitive. They want to remain competitive.

If the Chicago Bulls make 0 trades today, keep this roster intact to continue forward with their 'competitive' plan, do you support the direction they're going?

The End Of A Bulls Chapter

Bulls 129 Timberwolves 123 OT

DeMar 33 Pts
White 33 Pts
Nikola 24 Pts
Andre 16 Pts

This should be the last game this group plays together & they didn't disappoint.

Unfortunately, with contracts ending & injuries, change has to come to move forward.

AKME haven't made a single trade in 2.5 years!

This excludes that Julian minor move for 2 future picks.

Bulls Front Office position is the best job in the world. You make millions & you don't have to do anything. Fans will by default purchase tickets so no need to do anything.

No Lavine. No Lonzo. $60.6m combined salary out for the season.

Any good front office would realize it's time to firesale roster, tank & prepare for next season.

However fully expecting AKME continue with this 'core', try to push to make playin instead. Hope I'm wrong here.

A move is coming. Who do you expect will be traded / exit the Chicago Bulls 1st?

Demar - Might be traded / expiring contract
Zach - Might be traded if a good offer is made.
Vucevic - Might be traded if a good offer is made.
Lonzo - Bought Out/Stretch Provision or salary dump.

account_circle
Chicago Bulls Talk(@BullsSource) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Zach LaVine - $40m
Lonzo Ball - $20.5m

Bulls have $60.5m (40% of their total salary) tied up with 2 players who are unplayable.

This alone is why AKME won't be rebuilding. Their mindset is likely how can they move on from these 2 and bring in pieces to fit with current core.
