SSA Valvo and the Buffalo State University Alumni and Visitor Center made a friend while setting up tents for Homecoming and Family Weekend. The bunny was successfully fed and rehomed, but we would like to remind the community not to feed or rehome SSA Valvo

Last week, various members of UPD shared coffee and conversation with members of the campus community. #CoffeeWithACop is popular in departments around the country, as it provides a comfortable atmosphere for UPD and students/faculty/staff to get to know each other better.

University Police will test the Outdoor Alert Horn today, Tuesday, October 24, at 1:30 p.m. This is only a TEST.

The Buffalo State University University Police Department temporarily suspended the grooming standards for the department to allow officers to participate in the eleventh annual Goatees and Beards for Charity fundraiser. $1,255 was raised for the WNY Law Enforcement Helpline.

As it is Administrative Professionals' Day, UPD would like to take a moment to recognize our two administrative staff members. Darlene and Sam work hard every day to keep the department running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Thank you both!

Last week, UPD officers were recognized by ASIS International (WNY) for their work in arresting two armed suspects on campus in February. The recipients were Officers Urbanski, Bookmiller, Styn, Olszewski and Dougherty (not pictured), as well as Lt. Helling.

Last week, Assemblymember Jon Rivera presented Officers Olszewski and Urbanski with proclamations for their excellent police work in acting quickly to help maintain campus safety during an altercation at the Sports Arena in February.

The first step to joining UPD is to take the NYS Civil Service Exam, which is only scheduled every couple years. Don't miss your chance! The exam is on September 28th. The deadline to sign up for the exam is August 14th. More information is available at suny.edu/police/recruit…
