Yesterday I met with Ms. Phan Kieu Consul General of Vietnam in Vancouver, officially for the first time. We spoke about BC expanding our lumber exports to Vietnam.

Our Rapattack recruits for 2024 completed training last week. Through May they worked together, learning skills related to air operations, safety, field work and, of course, how to rappel. Welcome to our 11 new Rapattack members who will respond to remote incidents across B.C.

Crews working in the North Peace Complex face significant challenges due to persistent drought conditions. Typically, groundwater prevents deep layers of roots, logs and other organic material beneath the forest floor from burning, but that is not the case this year.

At the First Nations Forestry Conference in Penticton yesterday I joined Lennard Joe & Andrew Mercier to discuss our work to strengthen and improve legislation & policy to ensure a competitive, sustainable future for the forestry industry in B.C.

I and my colleagues joined Amos Kambere and UMOJA to celebrate Africa Day here in #Surrey on Saturday, where UMOJA launched Voice of African Diasporas Society of BC (VOADS BC). I wish them success.

Last Saturday I visited the future site for the Ram Mandir Surrey, at their open house in #Surrey Whalley.  Congratulations to all the organizers and attendees for a great event!

On Saturday I attended the Cloverdale Rodeo Parade with my colleagues.  The event was a fantastic success!  Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a memorable event.

#BCWildfire Service is currently responding to the Truax Creek wildfire (K70302) located ~12 km NE of Gold Bridge. This wildfire is now estimated at 50 hectares in size.

It was fun to be on the field yesterday and try to play soccer with these young athletes. They enjoyed playing with Premier @dave_eby and some of my #Surrey colleagues.

People in BC have been taking action to prevent wildfires when camping - and it's working! In recent years, there have been fewer wildfires caused by campfires. Check local conditions before you head out on the BC Wildfire Service app or at BCWildFire.ca

Grateful to the BC Wildfire Service and local firefighters responding to the wildfires near Fort Nelson. Air assets are supporting. All doing heroic work to protect people and property.

Earlier today I spoke at Richmond Plywood’s unveiling of state of the art additions to their plant. 

Our gov’t is providing $2.3 million from the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund for the company to enhance its value-added production, and add more jobs to its 400 strong workforce.

Today, I introduced the updated BC Wildfire Service app as part of our seasonal hazards update. I encourage everyone to download the app for the most up-to-date information on wildfires, burn restrictions, evacuation alerts, road conditions and more.
