Our juvenile red-crowned crane recently received a vet exam & a routine vaccination from Dr. Sykes in the Northern Ponds habitat. Keeper Eadaoin held the bird while Collection Manager Kevin assisted. Other keepers kept watch on the parents until the youngster was returned home.

Savor the final days of summer break with a visit to the African Plains habitat to see giraffes, zebras, lions, and other savanna species. You might even hear our lions before you see them. Their roar can be heard up to five miles away!

Letā€™s celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day! Vultures sometimes get a bad rap, but these birds play an important role in their ecosystem. At the Bronx Zoo, we have several different species of vultures including the king vulture, Andean condor, and palm-nut vulture.

Watch as our feathertail gliders enjoy a fruit skewer treat of cantaloupe & yam. Feathertail gliders are the smallest gliding mammals in the world. Their long, feather-shaped tail acts like a rudder when gliding, hence their name. See them in the Mouse House on your next visit!
