Ian Van Haren The goal is to show that SAHs have the structure to oversee the settlement. That means each case takes more time so we can't do as many.
I agree with the goal. I have seen abuses & neglect. However some SAHs will not have the capacity for this oversight. That is a loss.

Nicolien Klassen-Wiebe I don't if this helps but whenever I think about the threat that robots pose, I think of this clip and I feel better youtu.be/rV2Hs2rgto8

'The processes surrounding the GRF have similarly been silent when it comes to the shifting politics on refugee protection in many countries or the rapidly emerging deterrence regime that has eroded access to protection in many places in contravention of the GCR’s goals.'

Robert Falconer I think you're right. However there were strong feelings from the beginning that this must not be privatisation of refugee resettlement. That was when the government and NGOs started talking about 'additionality.'

Robert Falconer When they started the Afghan and later Ukrainian sponsorships it was aided by CSH & called community. When the gov't intro'ed Welcome Corps, they called it private. I don't know why. There is certainly a hodgepodge of new sponsorship programs in the US.

Brian Dyck You're right, I may have missed my moment! My cats do have epic timing. One well-timed swat at a picture on the shelf would have sent the message 😂.

Brian Dyck The US seems to be a weird mix. The State Department is calling it Private Sponsorship, which is what matters most, I guess - but you also have the 'Community Sponsorship Hub,' which seems to be the main research and support convenor for small groups and PSOs.

Brian Dyck Indeed. There’s an old federal report I have stashed around from somewhere that serves as a post-crisis debrief on the subject – I would be curious to see if there’s some commentary there. I believe it was Lloyd Axworthy.

Brian Dyck To clarify, I’m not questioning the intent, but the rationale behind the name, and why we call it different things in different times/places, and if it even matters much in terms of promotion and recruitment.
