Good evening! Brett Playter, principal, had a conversation this weekend with friends. Positive conversation connected with humor. #ISDBears23

A1: I appreciated the “reframe it” section. Looking at a difficult conversation through a different lens or from the other side to help with understanding and empathy. #ISDBears23

A2: One strategy I will employ is to avoid places and opportunities where toxic conversations can occur. I also think setting expectations/boundaries are sometimes needed at the start to help both parties understand what is or is not acceptable. #ISDBears23

A3: As adults we learn skills and strategies to help support better conversations and avoid toxicity or at least the ability to handle them in appropriate ways. These same skills need to be taught to our students. #ISDBears23

A4: I think building trust is about listening, caring, showing interest and being honest with others. Also, providing an environment in which those around you feel they can come to you when needed. #ISDBears23

A5: I think all of these factors are important. But, I think in my role the ideals of character, competence, and reliability may be more important with the adults, while reliability and warmth play more impact in students. Just my opinion. #ISDBears23

A6: This is the second time I have read through this book, and every time I come out thinking to myself “You need to be a better listener and commit yourself fully when someone comes to speak with you”. Again, I am tasking myself to be a better listener! #ISDBears23

Was excited to play in our Jamboree last week. Had a solid triple and RBI. It was cold out, but excited for the season! Go Bears.

Played our first game of season yesterday. Bears win 9-3! For my first couple hits of the season (single, double, and 3 RBIs). Lost the second game unfortunately. Here’s to a great season for Bears baseball! Go Bears!
