Our new study, including 363 million people, investigated the effects of antipsychotic treatment on cardio-cerebrovascular mortality in schizophrenia.

Main findings 🧵: 1) First generation antipsychotics (FGA) were associated with higher mortality in incident samples of schizophrenia. 2) Second generation antipsychotics (SGAs) and clozapine were associated with reduced mortality, in prevalent samples of schizophrenia.
