By scrapping the Rwanda Partnership, Keir Starmer has given people smuggling gangs a free pass to put more lives at risk. It now seems Europe will reap the rewards of our world leading plans, thanks to this incompetent and weak Labour government.

Yesterday government refused to publish the number of people losing Winter Fuel Payment in each constituency. But they did answer about one specific constituency (North Cornwall). They clearly have the data, but don't want to publish. Shows contempt not just to MPs but to voters

Why are Labour slowing down nuclear? Vattenfall in Sweden are expanding nuclear power which an energy expert has said will lower bills, but ‘might worsen the economics of onshore wind.’ Looks like Labour prioritising onshore wind company profits over lower bills? Mad.

Excl: A "high proportion" of 1,700 prisoners being released on Tuesday as part of the government's new early release scheme will be domestic abusers. Senior government sources highlight the extent to which victims and wider public are being out at risk: thetimes.com/article/353c67…

With great respect to Fraser Nelson and The Spectator they do not understand how means testing works in our benefit system. You can means test for millionaires not to receive #WinterFuelPayment but the admin costs are vast and it will not save the government money 1/

The chancellor Rachel Reeves is cutting pensioner support without providing help to those just about managing. You can do #WFP means testing and not make savings, or her approach, and make some savings (less than £1billion) but some elderly people will die. It is that simple /4

#Bassetlaw pensioners being hit badly by Labour. Local people will be looking forward to hearing the ‘strong voice’ they were promised at the election and hopefully a vote against these shameful proposals, which will almost certainly lead to deaths this winter if not reversed.

Wonderful news. HRH The Princess of Wales has been so brave in sharing her battle with cancer and we all look forward to seeing her resume royal duties soon. My family and I send our best wishes to the Princess, HRH The Prince of Wales and their children at this time.

I’m outside the PLP where Labour has been discussing winter fuel cuts. The meeting ends with a huge cheer for Chancellor Rachel Reeves and lots of whooping. Not sure pensioners will be whooping tomorrow

It is so blatantly obvious an early release prisoner is going to do something absolutely abhorrent. Do not buy claims this was the only option. Beyond building prisons the government should have hired more Bobby stockholmes, anything to avoid doing this.

Fantastic cross-party turnout for the Express rally against winter fuel cuts. Two Tory leadership contenders as well as many of the party’s MPs, Reform and the Greens. Silver Voices and Age UK also in attendance

An outrageous betrayal of our pensioners, who deserve so much more and will now lose £300, as well as having an extra £150 on their bills. #Bassetlaw

Labour are once again trying to mislead the British people and it’s not working… It was the Conservative government who protected the triple lock, because we understand it’s a moral necessity to look after our pensioners. Labour took away their winter fuel payment.
