Kevin Courtney Calling for radical change in our schools - a new education act, fundamentally rethinking OFSTED, Academies, Curriculum, and Assessment! #YTC18

'School staff' can't 'ditch time-consuming issues such as onerous marking policies' when management are telling them they have to do it for OFSTED, Mr. Damian Hinds , even if it's not 'required' (especially when it's recommended by an inspector). theguardian.com/education/2018…

We'd have a much better summer of we could see the STRB report, and see if they've recommended teachers a reverse to our pay cut of the last 8 years (and if you've given schools the money to pay it). #TeacherProblems #WhereIsSTRB #schoolcuts #schoolsoutforsummer Damian Hinds

They say it's a pay rise; it isn't fully funded by government (it's still cutting into existing school budgets) and it still doesn't reverse the below-inflation pay rises over the last several years. NEU Bradford x.com/ianmurch/statu…

On the cutoff date for new members, the general secretary’s paper suggested 12 January 2016. I tried to amend this to 24 June 2016, and grassroots alliance comrades voted with me for a move which they now condemn. No-one even proposed scrapping the qualifying period.

Wow! Amanda Spielman on R4 this morning saying Ofsted has ‘no evidence’ that school funding cuts affect standards. Where is Ofsted looking? How has it missed narrowing of curriculum, loss of arts subjects, larger class sizes and stressed teachers and leaders?

Shocking revelations about Bright Tribe in tonight’s Panorama. Shows what can happen when hundreds of millions of pounds of tax payers’ money is given to private companies to run schools and spent without adequate checks and balances.

“We need to be careful not to jump to conclusions, but it is notable that this trend has happened during a period in which schools have had to cut back on staffing because of huge funding pressures": my comments for ASCL on today's bullying survey: buff.ly/2B2MV2I

Anna Cole taking about the impact of #schoolcuts on her three children in #Shipley schools. Headteachers do their best to protect their pupils and parents from the worst impacts, but they're not superheroes.

Anna Cole telling us that get daughter is having to choose her GCSE options in Year 8 and will have no more music and drama lessons, because they can't afford to teach them. GCSE music will be a paid after-school club. Shocking! #schoolcuts #Shipley
