The Boston Marathon was first run 124 years ago today in 1897. Fifteen runners started the 24.5 mile race but only ten made it to the finish line. John McDermott of New York won the race by a six-minute, 52-second margin, setting a then-record of 2:55:10. 💙🦄💛
