It was an exhilarating November for Bookaroo! Three editions in 3 cities. More than 120 speakers conducting 208 sessions for close to 32,000 people. A big thank you to all supporters, speakers and of course the scores of parents who brought their children in.

Up next. The 50th edition of Bookaroo. Seems like yesterday when a loose collective of authors, publishers, booksellers sat together to ponder over the feasibility of a litfest exclusively for children. All suggestions welcome. How do we make the 50th special?

We are often asked about the changes Bookaroo has seen in the last 16 years. We say bring the focus back on reading for pleasure. Keep institutions and performance rating out of reading.

Then there was the request for child authors to be on stage. We say, give them a few more years.

Attended a panel discussion on Children’s Books - An Indian Story. Interesting to hear the creators’ opinions on relevant issues in indian children’s literature. Missed out on mktg and sales aspect though. Hope to hear stakeholders’ opinion on that too. ParagReads Eklavya Pitara
