Late start day, specific teachers, lots of clubs & activities, & an LGBTQ+ inclusive building all made the list of things my students love about PLMS. Its not a perfect place and we are imperfect people but we do our best by kids and they see that.

Students told me how impressed they were that I was doing the same work assigned to them. Why would teachers not do this? Not model? Not learn alongside students? Also - slow down and teach students HOW to read on every level and in every class, including college.

How do you change the world? Acting as Truman's advisors, students analyzed primary source documents, debated, and collaborated to develop a plan of action. They then held press conferences to inform the world of their decisions.

Various athletics:activities, character traits, hobbies, and school subjects made the list. Some favorites include “getting my baby sister to sleep” (what a gift to that family!), “showing kindness” (what a gift to everyone!), and “procrastinating” (gotta love the honesty!).

Being far braver than I was in middle school (ie: me throwing up before piano contests), these PLMS Tigers Robotics teammates presented to the Lee's Summit R-7 Schools school board today about the life skills they learn from robotics. They also got some laughs. Proud sponsor.

Loving my newly created Newton’s third law stations with my 7th hour. (Also love that there are only 15 in this class. Much less chaotic and many more opportunities to interact with the materials and learn. Class size matters.)

Our second year as a robotics coaches is going so much more smoothly, so far, than the first. And that with adding a third team and a dozen more kids. Here’s part of team STRIPES and a Team Driven 1730 mentor hard at work today.
