Forty years ago today. Wrote a ghost story, got humiliated playing Jetpac on Ossie's ZX Spectrum, filled a cricket team with Doctor Who characters (Alpha Centauri as wicket-keeper) and hosed down my mothballed Raleigh Strika to make me officially Bob 'Two Bikes' Fischer.

Forty years ago today. The first issue of Warlock the Fighting Fantasy magazine, a new gear chain for my Chopper, a 'BMX course' in Doug's garden, and my dad brought home a can of 'fart spray'.

Utterly spellbinding & our village hall was packed to the rafters with over 200 (!) happy people: Amelia Coburn (with Mat Hunsley in support & our celebrity (!) introducer Bob Fischer). It's the reason why we put on gigs @ Hutton Rudby & I'll remember this for a long time.

Forty years ago today. Last day of term, and an absolute treat for fans of obscure 1980s computer systems. Who else spent Easter playing The Towering Inferno and Halls Of Hell on a Sharp MZ80K?

Forty years ago today. Bonus points to anyone who can identify the 'absolutely **** film about some gegs living in the mountains'. I have no idea whatsoever, but it was rare for my 11-year-old self to have such a violently negative reaction to anything. Apart from cabbage.

Fondly remembering the sunny Tuesday lunchtime when Stephen Brotherstone Art, Rebecca Little and me formed early 1970s folk-pop band Wickettywack outside a cafe in Liverpool. We'd split up by the time the sticky toffee pudding arrived, but they really were the most marvellous times.

Yorkshire weirdies! Get down to the already wonderful Ryedale Folk Museum this summer, it's got a brilliant - and huge - exhibition about witchcraft and folk magic running until November. Genuine witch posts, crystal balls, corn dollies, the lot. Plus a one-eyed cat that stares you out.
