This week in Maths, Year 3 have been measuring objects around the class whilst learning to convert between m, cm and mm.

Year 1 had lots of fun this afternoon learning all about children in need and then created Pudsey inspired art.

Thinking scientifically, year 1 worked hard to answer 'what is the difference between objects and materials?'

We have been working hard in year 1, comparing numbers using the vocabulary greater than, less than and equal to. We had lot of fun making the equality and inequality symbols out of lolly sticks.

Year 3 have been conducting comparative investigations to find out how and why things move differently on different surfaces.

Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Buster Ancient Farm this week where they explored Stone Age sites, made Bronze Age jewellery and examined some artefacts from the past.

Before we start our new story 'The Billy goats gruff' Year 1 spent their English lesson making bridges for a monster to hide under. Then they imagined what the monster would say.

Year 1 have had lots of fun today in our science lesson. Working together we drew features such as our eyes, nose and ears onto a life size sketch before moving on to label different body parts.

As part of year1's topic on shape, they have spent the week exploring repeating patterns, radiating patterns and tangrams.

Year 1 played a game to find the missing number when the whole and one part is known.

Year 1 have been exploring what makes a fruit a fruit and how/where our food grows.

Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed designing and making their castles for DT this term! Well done, Birch Class!

Year 3 had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day yesterday by dressing up as their favourite book character. They especially enjoyed reading to the little ones in Nursery.

Year 1 had lots of fun celebrating world book day yesterday.

Today year 1 looked at the different groups of animals, we carefully described the features of animals and had to sort, compare, draw, label and classify the animals.

In computing, Year 3 have been working on creating branching databases. Today we put our learning into practise and used an online app to create our own branching databases.

In DT, year 1 have been practising food preparation skills by learning to use a fork to hold foods when cutting, use a table knife to cut soft foods and use a juicer to get juice from fruits.

Today Year 1 completed a range of activities to compare old and new toys.

Yesterday, year 1 enjoyed a trip to Orchard Place farm where they learnt all about how we grow fruit in the UK and the importance of bees.
