Opening plenary speaker Nikki Sanchez Urges #CAGP23 to think about what the role of philanthropy is, given the history of attempted genocide in Canada: is philanthropy a beneficent act? Or is it an urgent and necessary act of reparation and restoration of things taken?

What #fundraising can learn from indigenous ways of knowing: there are no frivolous asks in indigenous cultures. Every ask is viewed as coming from the heart after a great deal of thought and work. How could this teaching change settler fundraising practices? #CAGP23

The charity disbursement quota today is calculated on the value of (certain) assets of a charity, not on the income of the charity. This can create a gap, where charities that have high value but low income assets may be obligated to liquidate assets to meet the DQ. #cagp23

Donor advised funds (a theme at #CAGP2023) continue to be a hot topic on the final day. Kate Bake-Paterson does a great job managing a lively debate on DAF policy issues and concerns.
