Gulls streaming past the reserve last night on their way to roost on the Humber. With many thousands of several species of gull using the estuary as a safe refugee at the moment they can often be forgotten as an important part of the wetland bird assemblage. #EastCoastWetlands

After hearing that the breeding season in Iceland had been a poor one this year its been a bit of a nice surprise to have a reasonable number of juvenile Black-tailed Godwits feeding on site this last few days. Humber Nature Partnership #eastcoastwetlands

There's been a strong passage of Ringed Plovers through the Humber in the last week with 315 counted at Tetney and 225 on Whitton Island, but this colour ringed bird was at Blacktoft this morning, possibly of Polish origin? #eastcoastwetlands Humber Nature Partnership

Our Tetney Saltmarsh had one of the the best breeding densities in the Humber survey, but not to be complacent we ask people to continue to support their continued breeding success by not walking onto the Saltmarsh and keep to the public footpaths.

The yellow wagtails following around the Koniks on the marsh snaffling the insects being kicked up by their active grazing. Our population of Yellow wags really need the local mixed arable crops to nest in but love to feed around livestock in late summer. Humber Nature Partnership

Grass margins are usually put in around arable fields but as an experiment we have left then in place and increased their size on our recently created wet grassland fields. By selectively mowing them it creates a mixed food rich habitat for species like these Grey Partridge.

A bit better footage of the Pec Sandpiper from this morning. The question is with all the different weather systems did it come from the America or Siberia? #eastcoastwetlands

An early arrival of Pink-footed Geese this year has seen up to 1400 next to the reserve feeding on Barley stubbles, only possible because rain delayed the farm operations. The Humber's waterfowl depend on this habitat but often it disappears as soon as the field is harvested.
