There’s some interesting news here worth exploring about how many Utah cities lied to their constituents by drawing false bike lanes that are now being exposed by state law. But of course, David Ochoa isn’t interested in actual journalism, just bike shaming #utpol #slc

NIMBYs fought: 1. The zoning that makes Culture Coffee possible 2. The road diet that makes Culture Coffee accessible 3. The adjacent housing that gives Culture Coffee a walkable customer base. NIMBYs are the obstacle to a productive and pleasant city. #slc

Let me be abundantly clear: In most of SLC it is *illegal* to open a corner store. In most of SLC, commercial properties are located along unsafe car sewers In most of SLC, any attempt to build multi-family housing will be met with scorched-Earth opposition. NIMBYs up and down

Weird how all these Utah cities with a UDOT-owned "Main Street" saw their local vibrancy decimated during the same period of the late 20th century when the state was pursuing a strategy of auto-oriented suburban sprawl, and are now fighting to bounce back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
