In a U.S. trial with 58 participants, 1–2 day water fasts combined with a no-sugar diet and 16:8 time-restricted eating reduced Long COVID symptom severity by 52% and symptom count by 41% in 10 weeks. The stricter fasting plan outperformed mild fasting. nature.com/articles/s4159…

6 years ago today I went on my last run (pic left) — today I’m 36 and I’ve spent my entire 30’s with #LongCovid struggling to walk up and down the block, or work more than 1-2 hours a day. Heres 4 things I never thought I’d lose at this age:

Here is one of the sharpest minds talking about sequestered infections. Amy Proal, in my observation, carries Polybio on her shoulders and moves Polybio forward with the help of a series of infectious disease researchers. They are headed in a direction towards answers and are in

1) 🇧🇷 A big trial from Brazil reports that the antidepressant fluvoxamine improved fatigue in Long Covid patients while the diabetes drug Metformin had no effect. The effect of fluvoxamine unfortunately looks quite small and it's unclear if it is clinically significant.

Our new placebo-controlled sub-study of rapamycin will measure: • autophagy biomarkers (pATG13 and BECLIN-1) • metabolic pathways using metabolomics • immune cell changes • patient symptoms and wearable data #MECFS and #LongCovid patients deserve evidence-based treatments.

“I had Covid and I’m fine”, is a statement I hear a lot. Unfortunately it doesn’t account for the hidden/delayed damage Covid causes. Some other dangerous viruses have minimal or no symptoms during the infection phase but cause major damage later. HIV can have no symptoms

This is weird. In the last week of US wastewater sampling BA.3.2 was in half of the samples. But in the same period it was only in 1% of patient sequences. Maybe this is good; maybe it's so mild they aren't testing. Or maybe they aren't testing kids.

1/ Last July, the first-ever clinical trial on fasting for long covid was published. Participants on average saw their symptom severity cut in half. A quarter by over 90%. Think it’s worth it to dig into the findings and why these are significant for long haulers.

it’s very obvious that long covid is a neuroimmune disease… as well as vascular, mitochondrial, metabolic etc. for instance, i had intense chest pain for a year after covid (which Anktiva brought back after each dose) i believe it was covid viral debris in my heart sac

Has anyone tried varenicline (Chantix) for Long Covid instead of nicotine? I have and went into remission but I was also on a triple antibiotic therapy for h pylori at the time - the combination probably wiped out lactic acid producing bacteria and restored dopamine signaling.
