A Government of public service means fixing the fundamentals to deliver for the British people. No more gimmicks and slogans, but the hard yards of governing in the national interest.   The department I lead will be the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Multiple things can be true at once. We need new housing. New supply in some places may reduce demand and stabilise prices. But it could also create new demand and drive up prices. This has long been true which is why post-war governments built social housing.
