In Bogotá, 75% of public transit users are women, making more frequent, shorter trips for caregiving tasks. Women pay more for transit due to these non-linear trips. Inclusive transit must address these unique patterns for true equity. -Claudia López The Graduate Center


In Bogotá, unpaid care work, mostly by women, accounts for 20% of Colombia’s GDP—more than oil, gas, or coffee. As mayor, I partnered with feminist movements to create “care blocks,” using city resources to recognize, reduce, and redistribute this burden. -Claudia López The Graduate Center
