Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area's Earth Day Bighorn River Cleanup event on April 22nd has been postponed due to severe weather alerts. The cleanup has been rescheduled for May 6th at 9am. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope to see you all on May 6th!

Just a reminder to those folks traveling to or from Bighorn Canyon, HWY 14 A is still closed going over the Bighorn Mountains. WYDOT is working on it. They plan to have it open by Memorial Day. Thank you WYDOT!!

Good News: The winter weather means ice fishing is just around the corner. Bad News: Cold temperatures are causing the ramps at Barry's Landing and Horseshoe Bend to freeze, causing slick and icy conditions. The ramps will be closed until the ramp conditions improve.

Monday, January 16th, is Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service (MLK Day). Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center will be open, and all books in the WNPA bookstore will be 15% off.

Releases into the Bighorn River from Afterbay will rise significantly over the rest of this week from 4250 cfs at 8:00 am today to 7000cfs by 8:00 am Sunday.

The Black Canyon boat-in camping site will reopen on Friday, August 4th. We ask all visitors recreating at the Black Canyon Campground to be bear aware. Thirteen mooring buoys have been placed in the North District, and the Kane boat ramp will be repaired this week.

Due to continued bear activity, the Black Canyon boat-in camping site is closed. The bears continue to show habituation and little fear of human activity. Black Canyon Campground will be closed for the remainder of the 2023 season.

The water utilities at Horseshoe Bend have been winterized for the season. The restroom near the Horseshoe Marina remains open.

The Cal S. Taggart Visitor Center in Lovell, WY will move to winter hours starting October 1, 2023. The Visitor Center will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 – 4:30.
