To box #Thangalaan into a single genre would be an injustice to its narrative complexity. It is a period movie, a historic fiction inspired by true events, n incorporates elements of magical realism. 2/16

Whther it's film like Kaala whr politics naturally intertwines with story, r a seemingly non-political film like Sarpatta, Ranjith manages to weave hs politics seamlessly into the narrative. #Thangalaan is no exception; it is perhaps evn more potent in its political message 10/16

The post-interval scene where Thangalaan returns home in Western attire, riding a horse, is a direct homage to Django Unchained, executed brilliantly. The scene where he distributes blouses to d women of his tribe is another standout moment, deeply empowering and symbolic. 12/16

In d hands of another filmmaker, character of Aarthi might hv been d villain. However, Ranjith reimagines her as the embodiment of Mother Nature, the protector of natural resources. This creative choice adds depth to hr character n challenges traditional good vs evil tropes 13/16

#Thangalaan stands as a testament to Pa Ranjith’s rare talent. He brilliantly blends hs politics wid hs art w/o compromising on d quality of hs work. Dis film isn’t just a visual n narrative spectacle; it’s a powerful commentary on history, culture, n d politics of identity 15/16
