There were a record 713,144 international students in Australia as of the end of February 2024.
The Albanese government must recognise that nearly two-thirds of Australians want lower immigration, with half wanting drastic cuts

I mistook this image for a residential subdivision in Melbourne’s (or. Sydney’s) outskirts. Symbolically (and near visually) identical!

This article is clearly bait but I'm glad it concludes with such a practical way forward.

12 of the 13 councils have taken the deal on the TOD or bettered the govt’s number of units. Canterbury-Bankstown has asked for three more stations to become TODs.

The last one, Ku-ring-gai, didn’t want to negotiate, so they’re being upzoned to six storeys this month.

Pete Wargent If it's <400m from a TOD station on the North Shore, $7-11million (real estate agents are telling residents). If it's >800m, $3 million.

Summary: my guess Lindfield & Roseville most immediately attractive & best returns to develop, so faster there

Killara least attractive. Gordon more piecemeal & a risk of copping for developer contributions to improve tired town centre (this mostly already done at Lindfield)

Roseville: again I can see a chunk going in here because its proximity to Chatswood makes it attractive. A lot to the east was prevented with a questionable HCA, this will essentially go

With less strong NIMBYs than Killara, I think likely

W side of highway extremely steep here

Those Kuringai rezonings in full….

If everything within the circles is now subject to the TOD then changes may not be as significant as you think

Labor Lies
why isn’t Rose Jackson advocating for affordable housing in the ToDs and low/mid rise housing plans????

Why isn’t she stopping the privatisation of public housing if she cares about housing vulnerable person?
