Listening to this podcast, so many parallels with modern movement. Racism x war x student-led protest x violent, authoritarian state response…

An NBC News investigation into 7 deadly Israeli airstrikes has found Palestinians were killed in areas of Gaza that the Israeli military explicitly designated as safe zones. An NYT investigation found the same thing.

Targeting civilians is a war crime.

I hope my USC colleagues are paying attention to what courage looks like when it comes to standing up to President Folt and Provost Guzman. We must stop assuming a posture of supine acquiescence in relation to them. They “broke the fundamental link between us and our students.”

'Like their association of civil rights & peace protesters w/ communism throughout the Cold War, politicians on both sides of the aisle are now broadly hurling claims of antisemitism against anyone protesting Israel’s war in Gaza, many of whom are Jewish.'

She’s right: “A decision to delay is a decision. It is a decision to block federal trials from being completed before the election. It is a decision to keep the question — did Trump commit a crime? — unanswered before the American people must vote.“ wbur.org/cognoscenti/20…

All they had to do was not hear the presidential immunity case. Now the highest court in America is not only perpetrating obstruction of justice on Trump’s behalf; they’re committing election interference for him by delaying the Jan 6th trial until after November. Complicit.

It is worth watching this CNN video from the moment Emory Econ Professor Caroline Fohlin came across the violent arrest of a protester on campus and asked the police, with shock, 'What are you doing?' That's all that prompted an officer to hurl her to the ground and handcuff her.

It’s worth reminding those critical of the student protests raging across the US: Gaza no longer has universities. Every single university in Gaza has been bombed into oblivion. Hundreds of academics, scholars, professors, & students have been killed since Oct. 7.

The violent crackdowns on student organizers that university admins opted for at USC, UT Austin, Columbia University, New York University, and University of Minnesota will be my first association when I think of those universities for the rest of my life. What utter disgraces. For shame.

Visual evidence and internal communications show that before the strike on World Central Kitchen, multiple aid operations and local staff shelters in Gaza had come under Israeli fire — even after the I.D.F. was notified of the locations and logged them as humanitarian sites.…
