Since humans have about a 90% genetic similarity to cats the high fatality rate in cats is concerning. If we start seeing pig to pig (very similar immune genetics to humans) or obviously human to human transmission things could get very interesting (in a bad way).

You only have to look at the short duration between plateau and surge on charts like this from South Africa to see the effect of these highly immune evasive lineages that are now dominating the planet. Expecting people to be reinfected with more frequency going forward.
