Tomorrow is the last opportunity to catch some free stories with Bernadette Russell in Southwark Park. 2pm sharp under the American Red Oak near the cafe/gallery (follow the chalked arrows!) Sunshine has been promised 🌳🌞 All welcome!

Everyone was heartbroken when the much-loved weeping willow by the lake in Southwark Park keeled over in heavy winds, but look now! The fallen trunk was left in situ and the tree has started to grow, much to the delight of the park's feral pigeons #PhoenixTree Paul Wood 🌳

Perfect weather today for mulching the playground hedge in Shuttleworth Park. Leaving the grass long around the edges of the park means it is still green and welcoming for this garden spider and batman hoverfly and much else. #GrowBackGreener #NoMow

It can take up to 10 years for ivy to mature enough to flower, so please think twice before cutting it back. Countless species depend on it in autumn, including the impressive, but harmless, common scorpionfly (Panorpa communis).

Giving Shuttleworth Park, #Bermondsey lots of TLC earlier this week. We are managing the park to improve biodiversity: allowing grass and hedges to grow and introducing plants loved by birds and pollinators. Next week we'll scythe one of the meadow edges with help from Bankside Open Spaces Trust

Yesterday, we scythed the meadow edge in Shuttleworth Park. The arisings will be left for a couple of weeks to allow seed to fall before being raked up. Then we'll sow more wildflowers and plant yellow rattle plugs to help suppress too much grass growth. Big thanks to Bankside Open Spaces Trust 💚
