💚 Berea Middle proudly celebrates Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their lasting impact on education, culture, and leadership. 🫶🏾 As a school community, we honor the legacy of HBCUs and recognize their continued role in shaping future leaders.

👟 Our 2nd Annual Sneaker Ball was a hit and we aren’t sure if the staff or kids had more fun, given how many staff members were on the dance floor 💃🏽 Friends, laughter and dancing last night as kids enjoyed time together 🕺🏾 Thankful for our BETA Club for sponsoring this event

❤️ Last, and certainly not least, if no one’s told you they love you today…Berea Middle School loves you 😍 Have a great day, work hard and for the love of “showing love to all, even those different from you”…be kind to one another

👮🏽‍♀️ Today is National SRO Appreciation Day & we want to recognize Officer Serafini who exceeds expectations & plays an active role in our mission of “love, support & accountability” 🫶🏿 She genuinely loves our kids & wants to be at Berea MS to support them & to help keep them safe

🍪 DOUBLE-STUFFED OREO (a Writing Strategy) was chanted from the halls today, along with Transition Words and encouragement 🫶🏿 We are SO PROUD of how hard our ML Scholars have worked so far on the Access Test AND how supportive their peers have been

🦉 Today 7th grade Science scholars dissected owl pellets and how it provides real evidence of how energy moves through ecosystems 🥽 The owl represents a higher-level consumer, while the small mammals it eats are primary or secondary consumers that feed on plants (producers)

💚 One way we’ve worked to celebrate Black History Month is by having scholars shout-out and recognize scholars and staff who they respect and love ❤️ The comments come from OTHER scholars who wanted to recognize one of their peers 🫶🏾 Love the love they have for each other

🖤 Our Black History Month Door decorating contest concludes this week and doors will be judged Friday 💪🏽 Scholars have worked to decorate their OnTrack Class Door & have done an amazing job 🥹 Check-out some of the doors that are helping our scholars celebrate excellence

👏🏿 Today, some of our scholars participated in Black History Month Trivia w/ Dove Dupree 🧠 They studied a variety of facts and info to be prepared, then competed against one another for prizes 👨🏿‍💻 Mr. President was there to help encourage scholars & ensure they were ready

💆🏽‍♀️ “The Hideaway” is our new teacher’s oasis 💆🏼‍♂️ Here, staff can enjoy peace and quiet, dim lights, cozy furniture, coffee, tea, snacks and two massage chairs 📚 This could not be possible without the work from Ms. Page and Ms. Goodrich, who spent hours setting this up

😍 Check-out these BEFORE and AFTERS, as our new backboards were installed today (now all that is left is a Jumbotron😉) 🖍️ The old backboards appeared to be colored in with marker, but our new ones are AMAZING 💰 Big THANK YOU to those within GCS that helped make this possible

🍬 6th Grade Scientists didn’t just learn about rock cycles, they experienced it 🍡 By squishing, heating, & reshaping the Starbursts, they modeled how rocks transform through weathering, compaction, heat, & melting…a hands-on journey through Earth’s dynamic processes

🥰 This week we decided to make our own “Kindness Matters Week” 🫶🏾 Today, scholars pledged to show kindness to others and even wrote positive notes of affirmation to each other 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 Our kids loved the opportunity to show each other some love and did a great job doing it

💚 This week we celebrate our Social Worker, Ms. Parrott, who is AMAZING 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 Her compassion & commitment make a difference in ways that often go unseen but are deeply felt throughout our school community 😍 We are so grateful for the care & dedication she brings to Berea Middle

🌮 Our new “Food Truck Friday” has been a huge hit @ today we were visited by Frescoluna Catering 💆🏿 Each Friday, we provide food trucks for our staff to buy lunch from & the grade who has the least amount of NHIs that week can also choose to purchase food from the Food Truck

💚 Ms. McCoy’s 6th Grade Math class got to experience math while glowing in the dark on Friday 🩷 Engagement, creativity, collaboration and FUN 🫶🏾 Loved to see their teachers creativity and the engagement and smiles from our scholars

🏀 Buy-Out Day #3 is Thursday, March 12th 📚 Scholars must qualify by not having 5+ NHIs (as of March 9 at 3:30pm), they cannot have ISS OR OSS from March 9-12 and must have fines/fees paid in full 💰 Students pay $3 to watch staff vs student basketball game or hang w/ friends
