Last week we had the great honour of hosting Rosalie and André Hoffmann when they were awarded Honorary University of Exeter Doctorates for their work in support of nature conservation, education, culture & health. This has included turtle work by ExeterMarine in Cyprus and W. Africa.

I am searching for a postdoc interested in synthesizing plant-pollinator network change. The position is initially for a year, but I will work to extend the position for longer. Please check it out and consider joining my group in Leipzig, Germany:

Interesting perspective on the potential of ensemble modelling and other ways to understand impacts of multiple stressors in ecological research

We argue that stressors should enter models at the scale of their mechanistic impact, not where they have their ultimate effect (eg model climate as a physiological-scale impact with emergent effects at the population scale rather than as a term applied to a population model).

In our new paper, we suggest a bunch of ideas about how to better understand the impacts of multiple (interacting) stressors. The biggest one: that stressors shouldn't be classified by their source (eg pollution), but rather by how they impact ecosystems rdcu.be/cyjQK

Very pleased to be part of this elegant paper. We found that the majority of European woodland plants are being dispersed southwards by migrating birds, not northwards, which is not great news for their ability to adapt to climate change nature.com/articles/s4158…
