As someone who frequently switches between macOS and Windows, the most frustrating thing about the latter is how you have to go on a 5-click treasure hunt just to type an em dash.

One of Twitter’s biggest strengths is it’s still more about “who follows you” than hyper-tuned algorithms. This is also a big weakness. I can still regularly get a big discussion going on Reddit or Facebook, because an algorithm shared it. On Twitter, I’m lucky to get 2 replies.

I get why reviewers have to do this, but it’s always seemed off to me how we’re just staring at the *backs* of all these phones in these end-of-year rundowns when in real life you basically never look at the back at all.

Enjoyed this audiobook, but about halfway through my brain pictured Ryan Gosling singing “City of Stairs,” and it’s been playing on loop in my head ever since.

How to play a game as a parent with two kids. 1. Wait until they go to bed 2. Do hour of household chores 3. Download game 4. Baby cries, needs to be rocked 5. 2-year-old can’t sleep, wants another song 6. Baby cries again but refuses bottle 7. Uninstall game and go to sleep

Can confirm. My tweets are liked once on average and viewed about 100 times. Still peanuts. 🥜 😂 On Facebook, I can type “what up” and 1,000 of my aunt’s friends come out of the woodwork to say hi.

Can someone tell Hulu there’s no need to constantly **gather what’s new** because I’m just going to watch the same 3 old shows?

I would have 100% agreed with these until I had kids. I still think you should make a reasonable effort to get the shopping cart back (ie park near a receptacle), but juggling two under 2 at the grocery store changes the calculus. 😂

Me: [Sees 47-tweet debate about whether NFL QB is “elite”] Ha! People take sports too seriously. [Browses past 2-hour video on Andor and Star Wars universe] Ha! People take Star Wars too seriously. [Goes back to writing 1,000-word post on worldbuilding in video games]

Great ⁦𝚊𝚕𝚎𝚡 𝚌𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚣⁩ piece on how Meta sacrifices its potential as a gaming company by being so focused on the metaverse. There’s no going back: Meta must bet on the next big platform to stay relevant. But imagine if they could just focus on games! artifact.news/s/U9wlTXSPwWU=

Career hack: Have kids, and watch as your previous Friday afternoon laziness turns into desperate enthusiasm to take on more adult tasks before your weekend devolves into diapers, tantrums and Cocomelon.

Taking the high road is so underrated. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but secretly, there’s no better way to dunk on an asshole than being 100% classy in response.

Best part of weekend by phase of life: - Kid: playing at friends’ houses - Teen: sleeping in until 11 - College: play games until 2 am - 20s: go on long run/bike - 30s (with kids): do some dishes/laundry midday instead of evening to get 25 mins more of evening discretionary time

After that announcement, it’s clear no one can take on DeSantis in a debate right now. Or have a conversation with him. Or just hear him in general with how bad the Twitter Spaces audio feed was.

As a longtime iOS user who gave Android a go for 6 months recently, I think this is about right. My general take is that iOS is a better experience *unless* you’re a super power user who performs technical Tasks with a capital T frequently.

Ben Taylor (@benjamin1taylor) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Okay but seriously what's the deal with "i avoid using capital letters" people. 😂 Maybe it's meant to come across as casual and unassuming? All I can picture is someone meticulously overriding all auto-caps and auto-corrects in pursuit of a specific (and fussy) personal brand.
