“Homes are the foundations of our lives, so a storage container might be the perfect metaphor for how government inaction is leaving renters out of sight and out of mind.” Read my full quote in the The Guardian, why self-storage won’t solve renters’ problems.

We just want to reassure you that these changes are *not* coming into effect right now. 1/2

Proud to work with Barnardo’s and NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service) to encourage parliament to protect care-experienced renters from discrimination - this is a huge opportunity that must not be missed, please contact your MP and tell them why it matters 👇

Like Tom says, the battle is not won until renting is fairer and safer for all of us.

That is our only mission!

Without tough action on the broken housing market, renters will not see an improvement in their lives.

Ben comments that this bill is “stumbling into its next stage far weaker than hoped”

We will not accept half baked, weak regulation.

The Renters (Reform) Bill is back next week - but in its current form the bill is 'little cause for celebration', our campaign manager Tom Darling says. We'll be fighting for a Bill that delivers for renters. standard.co.uk/business/money…

Weaker than we’d hoped by this stage, I spoke to Vicky Spratt about the Renters (Reform) Bill which is due back in parliament this Wednesday.

Labour tells me Renters' Reform Bill 'amendment dump' is 'last minute chicanery'. Govt says it's looking at 'exemptions' so an amendment requiring renters to live somewhere 6 months before they can leave is 'sensitive'. RRB is extremely back i newspaper inews.co.uk/news/housing/t…

This is a really sloppy consequence of the new renters reform bill. It's clearly not being thought out, and can cause serious issues for people suffering under abuse.

Generation Rent stands with DAHA. Better housing regulation needs careful planning and consideration.

As DAHA raise here the 6 months ‘tenant trap’ introduced to the Renters (Reform) Bill by the govt poses huge risks around domestic violence. It could force victims to live with their abusers – unable to flee and legally liable for 6 months' rent. It must be removed. 1/2

Renters have been waiting for this bill to pass for five years. It was last discussed in November.

This discussion must put renters first. We cannot accept a diluted bill that does nothing to help the millions that are struggling.

The Renters (Reform) Bill is stumbling into its next stage far weaker than we'd hoped - renters will need more than warm words from gov't about our concerns.

If this is truly a 'once-in-a-generation' change, it needs to be something we'd happily hand down to our children.

830,000 renters have been forced to leave their homes because of unwanted moves. It makes up 40% of all moves.

Renters need better protection from no fault evictions. The way to go about that involves strong, no nonsense regulation.

Almost 1 million private renters have been served a S21 'no-fault' eviction since the Government promised to abolish them five years ago.

That is 500 renters feeling the pain of repeated delays and broken commitments every day.
