It's annoying how often I make "obvious" mistakes against the startup playbook. There's a lot of guidelines to juggle, and it's deceptively hard to remember them all, all the time.

Design debt it really similar to tech debt. You add a few features and suddenly you regret the whole design architecture.

Most the YC apps people send me would be better if they cut half the words.

Startups are a lot harder than strategy games. Games give you immediate feedback. But at a startup, you can try things for weeks and still not know if it’s working.

I think “Cursor for X” works in a bunch of domains. But the moat is still the base product. IDEs get a huge head start because you can fork VS code. “Cursor for design” is likely a great idea, but first step is making Figma 💀

Just read Abundance. I wish SF built more housing. There’s so much clear demand.
