An interim chief executive has taken charge at Sport Aberdeen as the current boss is “away from the office”. Keith Heslop has been replaced by Director of Sport and Active Communities, Graeme Dale. The organisation which runs sports venues hasn’t revealed reasons for the change.

Aberdeen will bid to host the Tall Ships again, with the possibility of it returning to the city as early as 2030. Nearly 500,000 people attended the event in July, which generated £32m for the local economy. The fresh bid was agreed by the council’s finance committee today.

The motion said: “The North of Scotland has a robust and diverse local news offering, which STV greatly contributes to... Any reduction in journalistic capacity would inevitably harm the quality of coverage and, ultimately, the communities we serve.”
