Lots of people talking about Allan Gyngell’s incredible intellect & the enormous contribution he made to our country. But I want to remember his generosity. He always seemed to have time. He was a mentor for half of Australia’s foreign policy community.

There has rightly been a lot of focus on Allan Gyngell's achievements as an historian, adviser and top official but I honestly think his work with Darren on Australia in the World - beloved by many wonks, diplomats, spooks and pollies in this town- is one of his finest legacies
