DO NOT overlook this kid. High IQ, TEAM FIRST athlete and an incredible person. This summer 3rd on team in OBP at .471, 5th on team in R with 33 and caused a ton of chaos on the bases stealing 20. He hit 1, 2 hole and also in the 9. Played in 46 of our 53 games. A DAWG!

Why Juco? 100% scholarship (most cases) vs 25% scholarship. Two seasons (fall and spring). Immediate playing time (most cases). Smaller classes. Less restrictions on coach's time spent with players. Draft and four year options open. Learn to grind.

The biggest difference I see with high schoolers vs college ready players is physicality. The biggest difference I see between college and pro is skill.

Don’t confuse your role with your value. Championship players don’t count minutes; they make their minutes count. A good teammate will never be defined by their role. A good teammate will be defined by their willingness to excel in that role.

Fascinating discussion from #Texas baseball coach Jim Schlossangle today about players balancing analytics. "Anybody that's super data hungry probably is not a good player. It's way more about being a competitor." #HookEm | KXAN News

"You have to tell the players the truth. If you tell them the truth, they're going to hate you for a day. If you lie to them, they're going to hate you forever." Comfort feeds ego. Truth builds players. Average players resist truth. Elite players demand it.

"It's always about us. It's always about we.  It's not about me. It was always about the team. It was always about serving each other as teammates, so we can go out there and be the best we can be. And that's what I value most about sports."
