Sebastian Beaumont affinity with Mourvedre goes back to 1999 when the Family Winery bottled #SouthAfrica 's first single varietal #Mourvedre over the years I have witnessed a constant refinement of their bottling

Our new Syrah vineyard is grown 'stok by paaltjie' and it's almost as tall as Sebastian.

Behind the scenes in the cellar with Sebastian: 'This 400L bin of whole bunch fermented Chenin blanc grapes could be used for the future Leo's CWG wine.'

The Pinotage 2017 is an expression of our style but we only have 28 barrels vs 60 barrels in the 2016. The concentration in the wine is due to the 46 year old vines only producing 2.5 tons/ha & 2017 is one of those great vintages here at Beaumont.

A little bit of 'good fungus' is not a bad thing! This fungus, known as Botrytis cinerea, is unharmful & has a special effect of concentrating the sugars in the grape to produce sweet wines. At Beaumont, they are used to produce our noble late harvest called Goutte d'Or

Our New Baby, Mourvedre, Vitruvian and Port wines are carefully waxed by hand individually, a true art form that Mavis and Charlotte have perfected and that seals in the delicious juices within.

We have a number of fruit trees with beautiful pears, namely Packhams Triumph and Forrel.

To add to the bustle of our grape harvesting, our pears were also harvested in early February. After some careful quality control, they were sent off to the market.

We are harvesting in GG's vineyard, our oldest single chenin vineyard that was planted in 1974.

We are trying a new/old technique of getting a true natural ferment to start in the vineyard.

After a few days, we will add it to the pressed juice.
