Brighton is buzzing again with #TGE23, my favourite local festival. My highlights on day 1 were Edie Bens 🧚‍♂️✨ from Wales (beautiful voice, great performance), Melin Melyn (definitely the most fun band around and lived up to the hype) and Haunt the Woods (great potential there).

Another fab day at #TGE23, yesterday’s highlights were LARKINS from Manchester (very tight energetic performance), English Teacher (refreshing and novel), Blondshell (90s vibe, great debut album) and the fantastic The Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde as cool as ever. #Brighton

Sunshine and more amazing bands on day 3 of #TGE23, perfect. And my favourites of the final day were Personal Trainer from Amsterdam and Welly from #Brighton, great to catch them entertain packed rooms from tiny stages (4 gigs yesterday alone!).

Good and well if Labour wants to support UK #musicians and scrap the damaging #Brexit red tape, but this comes a little late. Instead of sitting on the fence, they should have joined #LibDems’ campaign in 2016 to stop Brexit red tape in the first place mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

This has got to be one of the best #Wimbledon finals, tennis at its best. The skills, nerves and determination of both players are absolutely impressive and inspiring. Will Carlos Alcaraz write Wimbledon history? #WimbledonFinal

And it’s a #LibDemWin! Congratulations Sarah Dyke MP 🔶 for a stunning victory and being the new MP for #SomertonAndFrome. What a great election result that overturned a huge Tory majority of 19,213 with a 29% swing to #LibDems. #Byelections

Our electoral system, First Past the Post, robs millions of voters of a voice. It creates 'safe seats' where MPs can safely ignore huge sections of their constituency. And it distorts our democracy. We’re fighting for proportional representation - where every vote counts.

This whole sorry saga has shown the Conservative party for what they truly are. An unruly mob more focused on fighting each other than fixing the country that they have broken. They need to put us all out of our misery and call a general election now.

Desperation has taken on whole new levels for Rishi Sunak. Our government that left the EU because of its allegedly unelected officials now appoints David Cameron as unelected #ForeignSecretary. A low point in democracy. Stop dragging this out, just call a #GeneralElectionN0W.

That’s exciting news for #Brighton Pavilion. Congratulations Eddie Izzard for Brighton Pavilion, Labour has chosen a great candidate here, and judging from the comments in the reply threat, The Green Party and its members are not happy (which is probably a good thing)…

The government has just pushed through a new regulation on election spending. At a single stroke it almost doubles the permitted spending in UK elections - with no debate, scrutiny or vote in Parliament. legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2023/1235…

Great to meet Josh Babarinde OBE MP at the 🔶 Brighton & Hove Lib Dems AGM last night with other current and former Parliamentary candidates. Good luck to Josh in the next general election, #Eastbourne deserves a fantastic #LibDem MP again!
