I've found a lot of the guidance on maintaining mental wellness during #COVID19 to be too long and wordy. Designed this for #nhsfrontline staff. Use it if it helps. With my love and gratitude to you all #mentalhealth #resilience NSFT mental health @heidimckmatron British Psychological Society

"You might not be able to be sitting right at their bedside holding their hand, but if they can hear your voice, see your face, that can give them the comfort you're hoping to give." A new guide offers advice on virtual communication with dying relatives: dailym.ai/2wUevzS

My mum died at 7.25pm this evening. She was 93 years old and had been resident in a care home until the other day when she was taken into hospital and tested positive for corona virus. Not only could I or my brother go to see her but I live 280 miles away - it's hard.

A health care assistant called Julie at Doncaster Royal Infirmary Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals read my last text messsge to my Mum and replied to tell me that she had. And my Dads. And was holding her hand when she died an hour later. That brings me such comfort. I’ll be forever grateful Julie. X

Tomorrow we bury my big bro 💔 Not C-19 🦠but no cause of death otherwise known yet Sadly our usual ‘big Irish wake & funeral’ can’t happen We are gutted & meanwhile trying to keep our elderly parents safe With/without 🦠 diagnosis, our lives have changed so much! #StaySafe

There is a new awareness of the importance of talking about our end of life wishes & preferences since #COVID19 brought human mortality to the centre of our national attention. Advance Care Planning could be as essential as national flu-jab programmes. #OneChanceToGetItRight

More than 20,000 deaths from #COVID19 in the UK means over 100,000 people bereaved. Many of these will be children. There's an urgent national need to work with schools to ensure children and teachers have the bereavement support they need ChildhoodBereavement Child Bereavement UK

It happens... Let's talk about end of life @PSHEassociation Kathryn Mannix In Suffolk we have made packs for teachers+accompanying webinar which is due to be rolled out in 2 weeks preparing teachers to support bereaved children. We also run bereavement forum so teachers can meet each other and give each other peer support+Q&A+psychoedu

Teachers will need to deal with bereaved students when schools reopen. Of course, referrals can be made for bereavement support but classroom management will be needed, too. What arrangements are in place to give teachers the info & support they will need? Here's Suffolk's idea.

Please spread the word! We want to make sure this research gives voice to the experiences of people bereaved since 16 March in the UK. We haven't had many men or people from ethnic minorities participate yet. Sharing widely much appreciated. Bristol Black Carers Ujima Radio CAPC, Bristol
