Never fun opening at Cottage Grove Coyotes. Drop gm1 5-4, go-ahead run stranded. Solid work by Nelson & Soberski. 2nd game went pear-shaped after 5. We couldn't solve Cousin Eddy, who carved us up with 1 H, 11 K, CG SHO. We'll try to cream the Milkmen after the holiday break.

Ugly day. Missing starting pitching, bullpen w a chance to show their stuff. 29 BBs in 11 innings of work. An injured Anderson steps up & toughs out 5 1/3 very good innings in relief to keep us in gm 2. Offense responds by K'ing 11 times, often w RISP. Try again next week.

Michael Anderson was an absolute beast today. CG SHO, 1 H, 14 Ks, a pair of doubles, 2 RBIs with the bat in one game. Bryce Soberski with 12 Ks, 1 H, 1 ER in 5 innings of work, Locke shuts the door in gm2. Sobs with 2 hits/2 RBIs on the day. Carpenter with 4 hits.

Michael Anderson also went 2-2 with 2 doubles, 2 BBs, and 2 RBIs.

Tough day at the yard. Pitching keeps us in both games, but we strand about a million runners & make a couple critical errors. Go down 4-1, 5-1. Injuries to Anderson, Newton, and Locke. 😬🤞🏻

Bad news for the Bats. All-star leadoff man, CF, and base-stealing menace Luke Newton has torn his ACL and is finished for the year. We wish him the best with his upcoming surgery and recovery and look forward to getting him back on the field when he's healed up. 🦇
