Really enjoying the Weisenfeld Lecture by award winner Dr. Paul Bernstein about nutritional approaches to treating retinal disease. P.S. super thrilled to see the reference to Calvin and Hobbes where Calvin is eating ‘retina sandwiches’! 🤣

What a fantastic talk at the 40th Official_BSCB e-symposium by Takanobu Katoh of the Hamada lab on left-right axis patterning, a subject I find fascinating and have worked on years ago. Ventral bending! Will definitely be checking out the biorxiv paper! #ukcilia2022 #awesome

Article identifying low levels of BChE as a marker for SIDS. Hopefully a larger study is in progress and maybe one day soon we will have a blood test to let parents know if their child has a propensity towards this terrifying event! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35533499/ #SIDS #cotdeath

I normally just post about science here. But today Roe vs Wade was overturned and American women lost autonomy over their bodies. Forced to continue with unwanted or high risk pregnancies. Forced to face the potentially life threatening risk of childbirth. I feel such despair!

It’s the first time I’m attending this conference online instead of in person since it started in 2014. But can’t wait to listen to this exciting line up of talks!

My work on PYGM retinal modelling is out in Journal of Biological Chemistry! This has been a labour of love spanning two maternity leaves and a pandemic. A big thanks to my co-authors and to the University of Leeds for granting me their Academic Development Funding. jbc.org/article/S0021-…
