G. Željko Tonklin Liz Dobson Coco Whittaker BarbicanQuarterAction C20 Society - All I wanted to say was that there’s a far more complex bigger picture, and the campaigners whose tireless work I appreciate deserve more credit than your original comment has given them. Good day to you as well! :)
G. Željko Tonklin Liz Dobson Coco Whittaker BarbicanQuarterAction C20 Society - Instead of substantial responses there were only sheepish non-answers. It also doesn’t help that the City is judging itself. This was out of balance to begin with. -
G. Željko Tonklin Liz Dobson Coco Whittaker BarbicanQuarterAction C20 Society If there really was a solid case, then there wouldn’t have been so many vague answers today directing valid queries to the yet unrealised ‘detail design’ and meaningless promises that they’ll surely be attended to ‘in a few years’. -
Wonderful to see Michael Gove intervening to prevent the Corporation of the City of London from approving its own climate-harming proposal for avoidable demolitions and replacements on the edge of the Barbican site.

💥BREAKING NEWS: The Secretary of State has issued an Article 31 Holding Direction on the Museum of London & Bastion House. This prevents the City of London from granting demolition permission, until he determines if it should go to a Public Inquiry.
Refuse it, then reuse it ! 👊🏻
Many thanks to Nickie Aiken MP for Cities of London & Westminster for her request to the SoS Michael Gove to call in the damaging London Wall West application! Financial Times
Barbican@55 BarbicanQuarterAction Surely this decision is beyond remit of SUB-committee & requires FULL committee❔
Arguably, the reputation of the #CityOfLondon rests upon how they handle this matter from now on.
If they mess this up any more their credibility will be close to zero ( net ~not gross, that is ;)
No doubt about it! #CityOfLondon has a poor record so far as many residents are concerned. But there were signs things were changing. Corporation’s Policy chief regularly told resident groups City would listen+engage especially over #LondonWallWest btw he’s advocating demolition!
#ICYMI #CityOfLondon ’s Property Investment Board is behind a proposal to demolish #BastionHouse & current #MuseumofLondon buildings + replace them with DS+R’s scheme londonwallwest.co.uk [no final decision has yet been taken]
