In my address to #UNSC, 21 August, on Peacebuilding & Sustaining Peace, I reaffirmed #AU’s position of New Agenda for Peace as a master plan to recalibrate global peace & security w/ a greater emphasis on conflict prevention. This is in sync w/ # SDGs, #Agenda2063 & Silencing the Guns in Africa

Pleased to accompany Chairperson Faki in engaging Chinese President Xi at the Great Hall of the People. The Chair stressed #China's solid support for AU peace & security efforts, anti-colonialism & regional integration through win-win partnership for human security & global peace

It was an exciting moment to witness the historic opening of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on #China-#Africa Cooperation in Beijing. African leaders commended the 10-point partnership actions of President Xi Jinping & expressed strong support for China's Global Security Initiative

Met with Amb. Makaya of #SouthAfrica, who bade me farewell. I thanked him for his excellent contribution to Peace and Security issues in Africa as Head of Mission and wished him success in his new functions.

I received the new Amb and PR of the US to the AU, HE Stephanie S. Sullivan, who paid a courtesy visit. We explored opportunities for supporting the AU-Led PSOs and promoting synergies between the AU and the US towards enhancing peace and security in the continent.

I met with the new Executive Secretary of CISSA HE Jackson V. Hamata. I congratulated him on his appointment & expressed AU’s commitment to supporting CISSA in fulfilling its critical functions, particularly in promoting peace & security & guaranteeing stability in the continent

Held a working session in Libreville,🇬🇦 w/ officials of the #ECCAS Commission led by the Ag. President of the Commission H.E. Honoré TABUNA.We agreed to strengthen #AU-#ECCAS collaboration towards addressing the governance, peace&security challenges in the Central Africa Region.

I received the new Amb and PR of Algeria to the AU, H.E. Selma Haddadi. We reviewed the peace and security situation in the continent and pledged to work closely to help address same effectively.
