Be the hope! By applying Yosso’s (2005) Cultural Community Wealth framework, we also aim to empower communities that serve #Blackboys to understand that they already possess valuable tools that can help children reach the highest levels of academic achievement. #BLACKandSTEM

Let’s capture the creative minds of our #children while we have the chance. For many of the males in our study, an early interest in #math and/or #science led to a deeper interest in #STEM. #BLACKandSTEM

Make home a place of building our kids. Future research should consider the roles that #parental and #family demographics (e.g., socioeconomic status, parents’ educational background, parental occupation) play in students’ early and sustained interest in #STEM. #BLACKandSTEM

What’s a team w/o understanding “me”? 🤔 Our exploratory study aimed to understand what individuals who had not previously engaged in #researchexperiences learned from participating in team-based #researchgroup and how it influenced their #professionalidentities

Sometimes the obstacle you have to overcome… is you. The findings in this study suggest that identifying as a researcher and scholar is related, at least in part, to some members’ concern about their capacity to independently engage in research. #researchgroup #identity
