100 years of the Deaflympics!

It's been 2 weeks. I was about due an awful train journey 🙄 Going back home - waste of a day. I get that trains break down and delays happen for multitude of reasons but overcrowding due to too short trains, especially during the school holidays, in this heat? C'mon London Northwestern Railway!!

For my fellow deafies, if you have the live transcribe app (I am on android) it's getting a lot better at picking up tannoy announcements for info. Not perfect but enough for me to get an idea of what the delay was 🙌🏻

If you wonder how I know when the tannoy is going to use the app - there's this lovely thing many hearing people do that I look for - they crook their neck and look to the ceiling - its a classic 'listen' pose 😂 or sometimes they may lift their headphones off their ear briefly.

I would suggest that trains are not 'overcrowded' but 'underserved' due to not enough carriages. Overcrowded implies it's the people's fault. When the train companies have simply just not managed demand...

I wish schools wouldn't show off their 'strongest performers' by naming and all those with A and A* grades. There's multiple reasons why different grades are awarded. We know deaf YP overall achieve a whole grade lower than hearing - doesn't mean they didn't work just as hard.

Hey CrossCountry Trains - what's happening with the train to Plymouth please (I got on at Wakefield), I'm currently stuck at Derby. Loads of people suddenly got off but not everyone? If something was announced by tannoy that's not accessible to deaf travellers!
