The Civil Justice Council is running an in-person conference on 13 July to discuss four key headings in civil costs & procedural reform - so expect publication of a detailed consultation paper in the next few days.

As that will take months, it’s likely that the current scooter hire schemes won’t end in Nov 2022 but could be rolled over on an ongoing basis.

Latest PQ on #escooters yesterday: “The Department is currently developing technical standards for the construction of e-scooters.” But there’s still no indication when any such measures might be implemented.

Minster reports some 19 million #escooter trips within authorised hire schemes and estimates ¾ million private scooters in use. Odd she chose not to reinforce that use on roads of private scooters is illegal nor to outline future plans for legislation.
