Today is #NoSmokingDay . Smoking is the biggest cause of cancer in N Ireland leading to around 1400 cases of cancer every year. That's why Cancer Research UK supports proposed legislation to raise the age of sale of tobacco and create a #SmokefreeGeneration .
Early diagnosis of cancer can be life saving which is why our Spot Cancer Early campaign is so important. Today’s announcement by Health Minister Robin Swann Department of Health that NI will be included in Westminster’s Tobacco and Vapes Bill is great news. Smoking is the leading cause of preventable illness and death in NI and action to ensure young people don’t start smoking is vital.
