If high school basketball is the crown jewel of New York City hoops then why are Tiny Morton tinymorton & the PSAL trying to tarnish and damage boys and girls basketball by forcing small schools, against their will, to play v. larger schools? Mayor Eric Adams Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos

For the upcoming basketball season the PSAL is planning on abolishing the AA and merging it with the A. And now I have been told a dozen small schools will be involuntary squeezed into an already over crowded classification.

A Byzantine project, where a crumbling empire resets and thinks they can reach glory again. The basketball universe is more vast than it was 30 years ago.

Plus the NCAA doesn’t force successful d3 schools to move to D1. This is like forcing Swarthmore Men's Basketball or Johns Hopkins MBB to move to the ACC and play Duke Men’s Basketball.

It is unfair, careless, and negligent. Coaches, ADs, families, and principals from small schools like Summit Academy, Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School, Adams Street Basketball, Scholars Academy, FLHFHS @MaspethHS feel like we are being punished.

According to one coach, his team is already demoralized. The season hasn't even started. We can't talk about fairness, equity, and sportsmanship in a league where large schools will beat small schools by more than 100 points...

There are a lot of questions: How can the PSAL now be aligned with the New York State Federation Tournament? Does Dr. Robert Zayas force schools in the B classification into the AA? Why is the PSAL shrinking while NYSPHSAA is expanding to a AAA classification?

The only answer I received from Ray Haskins, the new executive director of the PSAL: “Coach call or text me after you get your schedule.” Do doctors wait until the patient has died? Do engineers wait until a bridge collapses? We can't wait. #StopTheSqueeze

Coaching is a special opportunity. Coaches that make the game about themselves is gross. Screaming, Dancing, running on the court about calls, this spectacle is a gross display, unprofessional &the opposite of coaching. There’s a difference between passion & theatrics 4 attention
